Sprint in a Deal to Buy 30 Million iphones, iPhone 5 on its Way!

Oh my God! Is this True? Is Sprint planning to buy iPhones worth $20 billions? I think so! The Wall Street Journal reports that Sprint has struck a deal with Apple to purchase around 30 million iPhones within four years. Well the shock does not end here! Guess what else? WSJ also reports that iPhone 5 will be exclusive for Sprint. Yes you read it right! Its iPhone 5, not 4S!

In August, it was said that the Chief Executive of Sprint, Dan Hesse, addressed the company’s board of directors saying that though risky, it’s necessary for them to make a multibillion-dollar bet with Apple if Sprint is to be continued as the third largest wireless carrier in U.S. It seems that they are well aware of the fact that it would be very difficult for the company to compete with AT&T and Verizon if iPhone slips out of their hand. Sprint also plans on offering iPhones at subsidized rates.

Heydays For Sprint!

The report also says that Verizon and AT&T would definitely be enjoying iPhone 5, but not this year. Probably, first three months of the next year would prove to be lucky enough for them. Hey! The surprise is not over yet! iPhone 5 will be launched as a 4G WiMAX device loaded with a faster CPU, the Assistant feature along with a brand new home button, a 4-inch display with very high resolution, storage capacity of 32 GB, 1 GB RAM and special software packs.

Verizon and AT&T will be getting iPhone 5 as a Long Term Evolved device next year and globally, it will be considered as a 4G HSPA+ gadget.

What Are We Getting Tomorrow?

Probably, we will be getting a Sprint exclusive iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S with NFC support, A5 dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with better sensors at front and back. It will have a metallic back case and a multiple band 3G chipset.

However, the shares of Sprint fell down by 10% after WSJ reported this news. So, I must say, it is, indeed, a courageous move made by Sprint. Now let us see whether this deal makes it or breaks it!

I'm an AT&T customer; been with teh same #/company 10 years now.

I find this deeply troubling. I just returend my iphone 4 that I had just purchased 2 weeks ago. Fock!

I'm phoneless at the moment and to hear that some B-Company like sprint is exclusively getting the Iphone5? This means I have to go pack and get another Iphone4 as I don't plan to switch to a B company like Sprint.

I made a decision 2 weeks ago that my next laptop would be an Apple. If what the WSJ reports is true, I am going to be irked by this experience and as such will not be buying an apple laptop.

I want iphone 5… but wouldn’t switch to Sprint for it. Their service is crap compared to my current service. Hope this deal is a rumor and doesn’t go through.

Sprint is not a B company. They whoop AT&T's ass, they never have service, and Sprint always has service no matter where. I have been a Sprint customer for 7 years now and couldn't be happier. Everywhere else charges outrageously. I would invest in switching over to Sprint. I shouldn't say invest though, I should be saying you are unintellegent if you don't switch over. Thanks.

Wow. I didn't get an iPhone because of AT&T and I have a house full of Apple computers. I would love to own an iPhone except for the fact that I'd have to sign a contract with AT&T. So, I for one am glad they are branching out. As for your laptop buying experience, Apple has been on top of the food chain for a very long time time with support in general. There is a reason.

You are an idiot! If you actually read the artical you would see that it says Sprint is the 3rd largest wireless company in the U.S. I had AT&T for a little bit until I got tired of losing signal by just putting my phone in my pocket and the only reception I had in my house was in my bedroom window. I rarely lose signal with Sprint and have been a happy customer for over 8 years now. Do your research Sprint is No B company! If anything it's AT&T or wait is it Cingular or Bell, I can't remember they have changed their name so many times.

As for Iphone5 I will definitely invest in buying one if they are sold through Sprint.

I am an Apple junkie, but currently do not have an iPhone since my wife's Sprint plan saves us 23% off of our bill. I have an android and I must say that I hate it!!! I do love the service (I have zero dead zones on my daily 50 minute drive) but other than the phone service the phones freeze up and turn themselves off. I still have a few months left before I can upgrade, hopefully the 5 will be out by then. I have had a Mac for 5 years and have never had virus or Malware issues. Can't say the same for the PC's.

I am coming to US with my sim-lock free iphone 4. How can I get a micro-sim for this? I do not have particular preferences for providers.
