Mystery of iPhone 5 Missing on 4th October!
Why did iPhone 5 not show up on 4th October? Well, with the disappointment fading gradually, this question still bugs a lot of people.
As reported previously, iPhone 4S was not the last project executed under Steve Jobs. He was very well involved in iPhone 5 also.
And now, 9To5Mac has tried to bring up another story based on the interviews conducted with Apple’s employees, Foxconn managers and some of the workers at the three wireless carriers. According to 9To5Mac’s analysis, Apple was planning on releasing both iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 this fall. However, the development of the former was lagging behind the latter. iPhone 4S was to include iOS 5 and a “completely re-designed” iPhone 5 was to include iOS beta with Siri and all new features like thinner and lighter teardrop design, 8 mega pixel camera and A5 processor.
Apple decided to launch iPhone 4S as a low cost version of iPhone 5. However, both the models were facing some difficulties.
Few months back, Foxconn founder was found saying that due to “thin design” of the handset, it was becoming very difficult to throw in so many components inside the iPhone device. So, iPhone 5 was undergoing certain design complications and had very low yield too. So, enough units would not have been produced for customers by the holiday season.
Besides, presenting only an iPhone 4S with improved operating system would have been a big bummer. So, Apple decided to stop working on iPhone 5 and speed up the development of iPhone 4S. The idea of “thinner and lighter teardrop shaped” iPhone 5 was dropped and instead, all features that were supposed to be present in it were thrown inside iPhone 4S which did not look very different from iPhone 4. In this way, the design complications were overcome and sufficient number of iPhone 4S units was able to be produced by holiday season.
So, iPhone 5 prototype did leak from Foxconn and landed in hands of case manufacturers in China. This was the reason why Chinese markets were flooded with tear-drop shaped iPhone cases. Who knew iPhone 5 would never make the cut!
Now 9To5Mac says that according to its contacts in Foxconn, iPhone 5 is set for 2012 summer release. Let’s see!

I guess the iPhone 5 was already developed and ready to ship, but apple delay its presentation due the Steve health's condition, for sure his death will atract all the headlines…. but it's just a thought.

Umm the pic in the article isnt the iphone 4s the 4s has the ipod application separated into videos and music apps more like the ipod touch and ipad.

my 3Gs is getting old. slow and the screen is just too small!

well a so called 4g network exists, but the true 4g network cannot be introduced until the analogue tv signals are part of history. As the 4g bandwidth operates on the same as what the analogue TV currently is using
