In an interview with CNET, analyst Charles Annis said that Sharp still holds a chance to get back into the race of iPad 3 display manufacturers. According to him, IGZO panels have great potential of reducing overall cost of production of an iPad 3 unit. He believes that Apple will be launching the next generation iPad in April. In fact, Apple may utilize two different display technologies for iPad 3 – Sharp manufactured IGZO displays and amorphous silicon panels produced by Korean manufacturers.

iPad 3 Release Mistakenly Revealed, Coming on March 29th!

Amazon France has listed two new books that guide a user on how to use iPad 3 on its online catalog. One of these is scheduled to be released on 29th March. This launch is being linked to rumors of March launch of iPad 3 that popped up a few days back. Because this website has a history of hinting at Apple’s to-be launched devices accurately (though exceptions are there) via book releases, possibly we can see iPad 3 in March.

According to BGR, the next generation iPad will come loaded with a quad-core A6 processor and LTE support. It has uploaded images that feature results of using a debug and development tool called iBoot on ipad 3. As its source say (that claims to hold iPad 3 prototype), two different versions of iPad 3 will be launched. One will have just a Wi-Fi support, while the other will come with Wi-Fi and embedded GSM/CDMA/LTE.

According to it, the next generation iPhone will be utilizing glass-to-glass technology for its touch panel that would protect the screen from damages. What’s on, iPad 3? iPad 2S? Or Both?

A couple of days old breakthrough from 9to5mac is making analysts wonder whether iPad ‘3’ is coming at all?! They discovered some case designs by a Chinese manufacture, Chinee, who is claiming them to be iPad 2S cases already. Chinee makers have heard from an insider in the Apple supply chain and based on this information they have prepared new covers for the upcoming tablet. It is supposed to be 1 mm thicker and with slightly bigger lens, as suggested by the case width and camera hole. However, no clue has been found on flash support.

 

Quad-core A5 Chip To Grace iPad 3 As Well

After iPhone 5, the quad-core bug seems to have hit iPad 3 now. With the launch of iBooks 2 App analysts seem to be reinforcing the idea of A5 quad core processor in the upcoming iPad to ensure adept functionality of the feature. iBooks 2 has come up with supported animation and interactive diagrams, photos and videos to enhance learning. This upgrade requires an efficient processor to facilitate quick loading of the additional attributes. Global analyst Trip Chowdhry commented that this application works very slow on iPad, is fine on iPad 2 and would get amazing on iPad 3 given that improved A5 can power the future tablet version.

These images show “2X.png” file name, which is being assumed to mean “twice the resolution”, and to signify that Apple is going to release a high resolution display for its next generation iPad.

Production of iPad 3 display panels (QXGA Display Panels of size 9.7 inches) will be out-beating the manufacture of iPad 2 display panels in the second quarter of this year. The total number of iPad 2 panels manufactured last year was 48 million, which is expected to fall back to 25 million in 2012. Around 40 million high resolution iPad 3 displays are to be produced in this year, says Digitimes.

 

iPad 3 Cases Being Manufactured to fit Slightly Thicker iPad 2

Chinese manufacturers have started selling out iPad 3 cases. These cases are meant for an idevice (iPad 3) that is around 1mm thicker than the current generation iPad. A Chinese case manufacturer called Chinee is handing out cases saying that they are for the next generation iPad (named iPad 2S). Back side of the iPad 3 case contains a big hole which points towards the rear camera lens being larger in size. So, in a nutshell, iPad 3 will be featuring internal spec improvements and won’t flaunt any major design changes.

Pegatron and Foxconn to Ship iPad 3 Units in Early March

Makotakara says that Pegatron and Foxconn will be shipping finished iPad 3 units in the beginning of March of this year. Foxconn has bagged eighty five percent of the orders, while Pegatron is going to manufacture fifteen percent of the total produced iPad 3 units only. Additionally, according to the website, Sharp will be producing LCD panels for the gadget (at least for initial lot produced). Parts like dock connector, position of back button and camera is being claimed to remain unchanged, and the author of the article says that the gadget will be called an iPad 2S rather than iPad 3.

According to it, by no chances, the company will launch iPad 3 at the iWorld event. It also added that we will not get to see the gadget at CES event either. Parts of iPad 3 Leaked, Apple Sticks with the Same 30-Pin Dock Connector!

Earlier we heard that iPad 3 will feature a smaller dock connector, which will make it incompatible with the related accessories already present in the market. However, Makotakara (a Japanese news website) says that iPad 3 will come with a similar dock (as of the current generation iPad) connector with 30 pins. Soon after we heard QXGA panels would be implanted in iPad 3 to make it high resolution supporting device, there came another rumor flashing IGZO technology for iPad 3. DigiTimes buzzed that next generation iPad would feature IGZO screen to yield a thinner tablet that consumes less power and is light weight. Again it is SHARP manufacturing these small sized flat-panel displays as it has stopped the production of large sized screens for now. Introduction of this capability would meaningfully increase battery life of the device and enhance the overall performance for user. These parts are said to be seen in China for a while now. The website has made several inferences based on the difference between design of iPad 2′s and iPad 3′s Home Button. I guess the wait for iPad 3 is soon to meet its end. According to Focus Taiwan, iPad 3 will be seeing its launch on the occasion of Steve Jobs’ birth anniversary (24th Feb). Well, this may be possible as Apple has a trend of releasing its products on Fridays (24th Feb is a Friday), and it has launched two of them on 24th Feb too. iPad 3′s New Component Hints Towards Major Redesign

Another component from iPad 3 has leaked on a parts-reseller website TVC-Mail.com that is contemplated to significantly affect internal tablet design. It is a flex cable ribbon usually responsible for connecting to the flat panel display in high density electronic gadgets. The site has made it available for $150 and says it is compatible with iPad 3. However no other tantalizing detail can be deduced upon examining the piece other than the fact that it has a modified internal geometry that can be responsible for a visible difference on the outside.

Sharp Will Provide Graphic Displays For iPad 3

A Wall Street Journal report pointed that Sharp is producing 10 inch QXGA display panels with high resolution of nearly 2048×1536 for Apple. And this time it won’t be an AMOLED based display. iPad 3 To Support Improved Backlight

Sources on DigiTimes revealed that Apple is planning to complicate and thus improve iPad 3′s backlighting technology. To sustain the enhanced resolution new lighting system will be required to provide for brightness of the panels. Allegedly Apple is taking into consideration two options, doubling up the number of LED chips on the existing setup or building a new system that uses two separate sets of LED chips on each bar. Reportedly, Apple can go for the latter.

However, with good news comes bad too. Backlights are instant killers of battery life. So iPad 3 is likely to become a victim of Battery drain.
